Group Terms & Leaderboard Notice

Effective date: 5 September 2026  ·  Last updated: 5 September 2026

The short version

Winnabit is built around small, private groups of friends. This page explains what happens to your information when you create or join a group.

This summary is not part of the legal terms — please read the full notice below.

1.What this notice covers

In short This notice sits alongside our Terms and Privacy Policy and applies whenever you use groups.

Winnabit (the "app") is operated by Winnabit Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16979558), with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ ("Winnabit", "we", "us", "our").

This Group Terms & Leaderboard Notice (the "notice") explains how group features work, what other people can see about you when you take part in a group, and where that information goes. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If anything in this notice conflicts with the Privacy Policy on a question of how we handle personal data, the Privacy Policy takes priority.

2.How groups work

In short You only ever share activity with a group you deliberately chose to join.

Groups are the heart of Winnabit. A group is a small, invite-only space where a set of people agree to a shared habit challenge — for example, going to the gym three times a week, hitting a daily step target, or waking up on time — and stake tokens on showing up.

3.The group leaderboard (not a global leaderboard)

In short Leaderboards are per group. Only members of that group can see it.

Winnabit does not have a global, public, or app-wide leaderboard. Your scores, check-ins, and results are never ranked against, or shown to, Winnabit users in general. The only people who can see your position on a leaderboard are the members of the specific group that leaderboard belongs to — people you chose to join.

Every group has a live leaderboard. It is how accountability works in Winnabit: the friends you have agreed to a challenge with can see who showed up and who did not. The leaderboard updates as members check in, complete or miss a challenge, and win or forfeit tokens.

If you are a member of more than one group, you will appear on the leaderboard of each of those groups separately. Each group only sees the activity for its own challenges.

4.What other members of your group can see

In short Your identity in the app, your check-in record, your streak, your completion rate, tokens earned, and your rank.

When you are a member of a group, the other members of that group can see the following about you on the group leaderboard and challenge screens:

Members can also view the group details, which are the same for everyone in the group: the challenges, the number of tokens each member stakes, the group size, the duration, the start date, the group type, and a week-by-week breakdown of the challenge (for example, week one and week two of a two-week challenge).

Sharing a group

Any member of a group can use the share feature, for example to invite friends. Sharing creates an image of the group's leaderboard that shows the group name, how many days remain, the total number of members, and the leaderboard itself — including members' usernames and ranks. A member who shares this image is choosing to send it outside the app (for example, by message or social media), and Winnabit does not control where it goes after that. Please bear this in mind when deciding which groups to join, and only share a group's leaderboard with people your group is comfortable with.

This visibility is the point of the app — accountability to your friends — so only join groups with people you are happy to share this with.

5.What is never shared with your group

In short Group members see whether you checked in — not your underlying data.

Group members see only whether a check-in was completed or not completed, never the data used to verify it. The following are never shown to other members of your group, or to anyone else:

Your profile and activity are not indexed by search engines, are not shown on any public page, and are not visible to Winnabit users who are not in a group with you.

6.Where your information goes

In short Your check-ins and results are uploaded to Winnabit's servers so your group can see them.

To show a leaderboard to your group, the app has to send your check-ins, challenge results, streaks, and token activity from your device to Winnabit's servers, where they are stored and then delivered to the other members of your group. Without this, the group features cannot work.

This information is stored on our backend, hosted by MongoDB (MongoDB Atlas), and may be stored and processed on servers located outside the United Kingdom, with appropriate safeguards in place. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers or any third party other than the service providers we need to run the app, as set out in our Privacy Policy. Our legal basis for this processing is the performance of our contract with you (providing the group and challenge features you have asked for).

In short Nothing is shared until you choose to create or join a group.

No information described in this notice is shared with anyone until you create or join a group. When you do, the app makes clear that your username, profile photo, check-ins, streaks, completion rate, tokens earned, and rank will be uploaded to our servers and shown to the other members of that group, and points you to this page for the full details.

By creating or joining a group, you agree that the information described in section 4 may be uploaded to our servers and displayed to the other members of that group for as long as you remain a member of it.

If you would rather not share this, simply do not create or join a group. You can still use the parts of the app that do not involve groups.

8.Leaving a group and removing your data

In short Leave any time. Your history disappears from the group; delete your account to remove it from our servers.

9.Respecting other members

In short What you see in a group stays in the group.

The other members of your group are sharing their activity with you on the same basis you share yours with them. Other than using the app's share feature as described in section 4, you agree not to copy, screenshot, publish, or share other members' check-ins, results, or token activity outside the group without their permission, and not to use the group features to harass, shame, or bully anyone. Breaching this may result in removal from groups or termination of your account under our Terms & Conditions.

10.Age

In short Winnabit is for everyone. Under-18s: read this with a parent or guardian.

Winnabit is designed to be suitable for users of all ages. If you are under 18, we recommend that a parent or guardian reads this notice with you before you join a group, so that you both understand what other members of the group will be able to see. A parent or guardian can contact us at any time using the details in section 12 with any questions about a young person's use of groups.

11.Changes to this notice

In short We'll tell you about material changes.

We may update this notice from time to time, for example if group features change. When we make a material change to what group members can see about you, we will tell you through the app or by email before it takes effect and, where required, ask for your agreement again. The "last updated" date at the top always shows the current version.

12.Contact us
